5000 BLACK: Afro Futurist Art Exhibition Series (Jan. 17th-Feb.2nd) 5000 BLACK is a continuation of the X000 BLACK series. A series of Afro-Fututurist exhibitions co-hosted by Zania Cummings & Marcus McDonald that have taken place throughout Charleston since 2023.
5000 BLACK: Parable of the Sower exhibition will feature Black live musicians, poetry, fashion, vendors, and visual artists (Jan. 19th 6-10pm, Silver Hills Studios).
The 5000 BLACK Finale Concert will feature a headline performance by a SPECIAL GUEST (Feb. 2nd 7-11pm, Music Farm).
Tickets for our Finale Concert will go on sale Jan 14th via Ticketmaster.
5000 BLACK series will feature several workshops, community conversation, and recreational activities planned at various locations. Including a special inter-planetary experience powered by NASA (Jan. 25th, 6-10pm, Secret Location TBA).
The theme for 5000 BLACK is Afro-Optimism, paying homage to the legendary Octavia Butler's speculative fiction novel 'Parable of the Sower'. 5000 BLACK is a fundraiser for Fresh Future Farm, a local Black owned urban farm advocating for food justice and providing mutual aid to communities throughout the Charleston Tri-County area.
