You are invited to join AALI for a special night celebrating Austin's arts, culture, and entertainment scene with special musical performances and community networking.
We will be gathering in the DRAYLEN MASON STUDIO located in the beautiful new KMFA 89.5 offices. Draylen was a promising young musician accepted into the prestigious music programs at Oberlin College and the University of Texas before his life was tragically cut short as one of the victims of the 2018 bombings in Austin. We will continue to honor his life & legacy.
The evening will begin with hors d' oeuvres & networking, followed by a live performance with vocals from DANIEL FEARS and CAMRYN MWALWANDA, bass from JIMMY BLAZER and live art from XAVIER ALVARADO.
This enchanted evening is free with RSVP.
Draylen participated in all that music had to offer him, and spent summers with the Sacramento Youth Symphony, and the Interlochen Arts Academy. He was a member of the Austin Youth Orchestra, Austin Chamber Music Center’s Young Artist’s Academy, and Golden Hornet’s Young Composers Project. Draylen was part of the YOLA National Festival Orchestra, playing with musicians from El Sistema-inspired programs across the country playing at the Aspen Music Festival and Walt Disney Hall in Los Angeles, where he was conducted by LA Philharmonic music director, Gustavo Dudamel.
Draylen's future was bright as he headed toward graduation from high school, having been accepted at some of the country’s most prestigious music schools, including UT-Austin, UNT College of Music, and the Oberlin Conservatory.
