On Saturday, June 18, 2022 between 2 pm and 5 pm, The Black Star Project, The Absolutely Anything Essential Gift Shop, The Barclay Law Group, Chicago Defender Charities, local historians, Illinois vendors and all those in between, would like to invite you out for a day to support the Bronzeville community and business owners along the historic corridor of 35th and Dr. Martin King Drive (recently renamed Phillip Jackson Parkway). Enjoy an array of arts and education-based activities, cultural bites, shopping, creating and supporting community, all while celebrating an impactful piece of America’s past, present and future through village inspired lens.
Local historians, visual and performing artists, as well as others from the Chicago land area will come to together to showcase their art depictions, share stories, and entertain attendees for this two-fold event to safely celebrate its significance of keeping the memory of emancipation for African Americans and the price of freedom for all Americans through American history in the forefront of our minds.
Paint & craft themed inspired keepsakes with the assistance of local artists aged 5 and beyond, try tasty dishes, enjoy interactive entertainment, listen to live music as well as shop with Illinois vendors from 2 pm to 5 pm. Solo supporters, children and families alike will leave this Juneteenth celebration feeling uniquely connected to historic and contemporary discoveries of love, freedom and amazing artistic culture in the city of Chicago as well as learn of ways to connect with it every day in their own community.
