What’s good, family?

As always, Brown Liquor & Chicken welcomes all of our Cousins – Early, On-time, Late, and “IDGAF when I show up or if I ever will but I’m going to support – back for another year of fellowshipping at its finest.

To those who finally get to make it, it’s about time. Sheeesh! (lol)

To our New New Cousins, glad you decided to spend the day with family.

2021 Recap

Last year, while still under the heavy threat of the panny, BL&C took a leap of faith in leaving Southeast DC backyards for the open frontier called Anacostia Park. 400+ Cousins pulled up, some with full stocked tents (That s*** was lit to see hookah bars in full effect. Y’all something else.) and some just pulled up with chairs and blankets ready for whatever. The line for chicken was nuts! We even had a couple platters of vegan chicken for our vegan cousins. Lawn games were in full effect. Shot o’clocks were shared. Music from some of DC’s most talented DJs kept the energy flowing. Little magic bites for BL&C elevated specialists. And when it was time to take it in, folk pulled up with their car lights to keep the party going. One cousin won a pair of Js. That’s family business. That’s BL&C.

2022

First and foremost, expect the same energy we hope you’re coming – a vibe. This isn’t a festival yet; but it is a function. And function is what we shall do. Starting with the infamous official Brown Liquor & Chicken that’s cleaned by the gods (yes, we use citrus), brined, seasoned and then grilled to perfection. As we’ve mentioned above and to mitigate the chicken line situation, we’re adding a grill or two to the mix to ensure folk are in and out of the chicken line. Plus, there'll be additional food items and snacks on the menu just in case our cousins get tired of eating chicken all day. Of course, we can’t have one without the other. Brown liquor will be in abundance so start drinking water now. We’ll also have water on deck because y’all not passing out on us.

Music will be provided by some of DC’s best DJs. Lawn games will be provided. Drinking games and other social activities will happen. Canopies or larger tents will be provided. We also have some other things in store for you but don’t want to spill all the beans. Last but not least, we will be safe. COVID-19 Protocols will be in full effect.

Looking forward to seeing y’all as we celebrate 5 years of Brown Liquor & Chicken.

Housekeeping

At BL&C there aren’t many rules; however, there are some that we just need to lay out.
  1. Have fun. Enjoy the moment because this isn’t a weekly, monthly or quarterly event.
  2. BYOB. (The rule: First bottle goes to the house, the rest goes with you. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND BROWN LIQUOR. Please don’t come with a bunch of Paul Masson and Havana Cuba Rum. Bring what you really really drink. Shout out to our Philly cousins who brought a box of 1942. Y’all went crazy last year.
  3. Drink water, a lot of it.
  4. Bring your tent, lawn chairs and/or blankets to relax.
  5. Put on some sunscreen.
  6. Donate to The HBCU Promise.
  7. Provide your COVID-19 vaccination cards. Hardcopy or digital will suffice.
  8. Follow @brownliquorandchicken on Instagram for all updates, prizes and giveaways.
