You are cordially invited to CA Black Women’s Collective Empowerment Institute’s Black Girl Joy Festival, a day full of celebration, empowerment and pure joy in Southern California! Mark your calendar for Saturday, August 10, from 7:00am to 1:00pm, as we take over the vibrant campus of our academic partner, California State University Dominguez Hills. Join us for an unforgettable experience where we will uplift and cherish beautiful Black Girls, in a safe space for them to learn while having the time of their lives.

This exciting event includes free workshops that will prepare middle and high school students as they unleash their inner dance diva, boost self-defense skills, explore the rhythms of sound drum & yoga, nurture artistic talent with arts & crafts, master the art of Double Dutch, and indulge in delicious food while having a blast! Come join the Black Girl Joy Festival and let’s create unforgettable memories together.  Spread the word, invite your friends, and get ready to experience the magic of sisterhood, inspiration and pure joy!

General Terms

LIABILITY WAIVER AND RELEASE FORM (MINOR CHILD)

 
THIS IS A RELEASE OF LEGAL RIGHTS — READ AND UNDERSTAND BEFORE SIGNING

 
I hereby certify that I am the adult parent or guardian of the child registered, a minor child under the age of eighteen years, and I consent to his/her participation in the California Black Women’s Collective Empowerment Institute’s “Collective” CA Black Girl Joy Festival “Joy Festival” located at California State University Dominguez Hills on August 10, 2024I understand and acknowledge that I am fully aware of and assume the risks (including but not limited to the risk of serious bodily injury, property loss or damage) of (1) said minor child’s participation in event activities on the campus. I recognize my responsibility to ensure that said minor child participates only in those activities for which he/she has the required skills, qualifications, training and physical conditioning. I understand that CA Black Women’s Collective Empowerment Institute shall have no responsibility to pay for medical treatment and related costs if said minor child is injured.

 

Knowing the risks described above, I agree, personally and on behalf of the minor child named above, to assume all the risks and responsibilities surrounding my minor child’s participation at the Joy Festival. To the fullest extent allowed by law, I hold harmless and agree to indemnify the Collective and CSU Domingues Hills, its officers, directors, faculty, staff, volunteers, employees and agents, from and against any present or future claim, cause of action, loss or liability for injury to person or property, which said minor child may suffer or for which said minor child may be liable to any other person, related to said minor child’s participation in activities at the Joy Festival, resulting from any cause whatsoever, and regardless of fault.

I am at least eighteen years of age and have carefully read and freely signed this Liability Waiver and Release Form (Minor Child). I understand and agree that no oral or written representations can or will alter the contents of this document. I agree that this agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of California (excluding its conflict of laws principles).


Chaperon Requirements
Minors must be accompanied by an adult parent or legal guardian at all times. The required ratio of chaperone to minor is presented in the matrix below for both day and overnight events.

Photo Release 
As parent/guardian of registered child, I agree to photos and videos of my child being taken at the CA Black Girls Joy Festival on August 10 at CSU Dominguez Hills. I understand that the use of the photos and footage can be used by California Black Women's Collective Empowerment Institute in its promotional materials, its website and social media tools. 

 

Refund Policy

This event is free, but requires all attendees to be registered. 

Age Restriction

This event is for Black Girls in middle and high school.
