Join Black Outside, Inc, Black Girls Do Bike, Ghisallo Cycling and San Antonio Social ride for a day of celebrating the Black history of San Antonio--- on bikes. This event is free and open to the public.

*Limited adult and youth bikes are available for participants*

 

Ride Details:

The bike ride will be a total of 5 miles with fourhistorical stops throughout the eastside.

Beginner or youth riders can particpate in a shorter ride 1 mile and practice riding skills at Pittman Sullivan Park (located on behind the Davis Scot YMCA) with Ghisallo Cycling.

Cancellation Policy

Please cancel any rental bikes by Feb 7th to ensure other participants can have access to bike. Rental bikes are LIMITED.

Miscellaneous Policies

Please read this contract carefully. It releases BLACK OUTSIDE, INC. from liability and waives certain rights. In consideration of being permitted to participate in an outdoor recreation experience with Black Outside, Inc. ("Black Outside") I, the Participant, (or if the Participant is under the age of 18, I, on the Participant's behalf) understand, acknowledge, and contractually agree as set forth below (the Agreement): 1. Acknowledgement of Dangers and Risks: I understand, acknowledge, and agree that participating in an outdoor recreation experience, which experience may include hiking, backpacking, fishing, camping, gardening, creating art, indoor and outdoor games and activities, and related transportation offered or provided by Black Outside (hereinafter the "Activity"), can be HAZARDOUS AND INVOLVE THE RISK OF PHYSICAL INJURY AND/OR DEATH. I understand, acknowledge, and agree that participating in the Activity involves certain inherent dangers and risks that cannot be eliminated or controlled by Black Outside, the presence of which are integral to the adventurous nature of the Activity. I understand and agree that the list of dangers and risks that could cause physical or emotional injury or death is not exhaustive and that there are many other dangers or risks associated with the activity not listed below. I understand and contractually agree that the following dangers and risks that could cause physical or emotional injury or death are inherent with and to the Activity: a) Risks associated with hiking, backpacking, and camping including: slipping, tripping, or falling (including from heights); loss of balance; dizziness and/or vertigo; fatigue; unstable, slick, or uneven terrain or walking surfaces; path and/or trail obstructions and other unmarked, obscured, or unseen hazards; variations in terrain; rough or unmaintained trail; exposure to steep terrain; trail and ledge side drop-offs; erosive cliff edges; difficultly with sight due to nightfall; difficulty with route finding; wildfire or uncontrolled camp fire and associated smoke; burns or burning associated with campfires, cook stoves, hot surfaces and sun exposure; injurious contact with kitchen knives or other utensils; exposure to food-borne, water-borne, vector-borne, or airborne bacteria, virus, or pathogens; exposure to food allergens; being struck by or striking objects; exposure to falling rock, ice, or other objects; unstable or loose rock, ice, snow, or other terrain; existing, changing, or otherwise dangerous snow, ice, rock and/or trail conditions; rashes and abrasions from footwear, backpacks, or other equipment; lack of or inadequate shelter; Participant's failure to appropriately use protective gear or clothing; Participant's failure to estimate and operate within Participant's experience; Participant's failure to understand and comply with instructions; b) Risks associated with transport in a motor vehicle including: all commonly understood risks of riding in a vehicle, including crashes; risks associated with riding in a vehicle in remote terrain on backcountry unimproved roads; lapse in driver judgment or skill; c) Risks associated with gardening, creating art, games, and team building activities including: injurious contact with gardening or art tools; repetitive use injury from gardening or art movements; exposure to paint, glue, and other hazardous or toxic art or gardening materials or equipment; collisions and other injurious contact with other people, equipment, natural or manmade structures, obstacles, or hazards; being struck by flying or falling objects and game equipment; difficulty or inability to control one's speed or direction while playing games; inadequate or malfunctioning equipment; d) Other general risks associated with participating in outdoor recreation experiences with other participants, and relying upon trip leaders/staff including: exposure to dangerous or diseased wildlife and insects, including bee or wasp stings and tick, mosquito, bat, and snake bites including from venomous snakes; potentially poisonous plants; falling trees, branches, rocks, or other objects; unpredictable and rapidly changing weather and environmental conditions; flash flood; temperature fluctuations; extreme or partial darkness; dangerously cold or hot temperatures; moving objects associated with extreme weather; wind; hurricanes and hurricane force winds; fog; rain; sleet; hail; storms; lightning; tsunamis; earthquakes; landslides; rock-fall; mudslides; lack of or inadequate shelter; slipping, tripping, or falling while wading or walking along the water's edge; falling into the water while onshore; water immersion; drowning; wildfire or uncontrolled camp fire and associated smoke; exposure to allergens, including food allergens; mental or physical shock; the discharge of weapons in the area of Activity; mentally or physically unstable or criminal trip participants or others; negligence by trip participants or others; all manner of outdoor injuries and trauma including head and brain injury, spinal injury, joint injury, sprains, broken bones, overstretching or over-exertion, athletic injuries, cuts, abrasions, burns, internal injury, sickness or disease, fatigue, sunburn, heatstroke, dehydration, hyponatremia, hypothermia, frostbite; exposure to food-borne, water-borne, vector-borne, or airborne bacteria, virus, or pathogens; exposure to food allergens; injury caused by inadequate or lost footwear; injuries caused by aiding other participants; exacerbation of Participant's own health condition(s); getting lost; diminished ability to react; errors in trip leader/staff judgment or lapse in trip leader/staff skill; lack of access to immediate medical care due to remote location; inadequate or incorrect medical care; poorly executed or failed rescue attempts; dangerous contact with rescue vehicles, boats, or aircraft; failure or lack of communication equipment; inadequate or malfunctioning equipment; and mental, physical, or emotional injury or distress from exposure to any of the above. I understand that Black Outside has done its best to list the known risks of participating in the Activity, but agree that I have the right, obligation, and opportunity to research and verify the risks of participating in the Activity.
