Join us at Shanklin Hall for a night of joy, gratitude and giving back! Thanksgiving marks 6 months since opening our doors and we'll be celebrating our entire SH Family; from our supportive members to our dedicated staff, talented artists and innovative chefs, live musicians and DJs, and of course the most stylish patrons in the city! Let's come together in the spirit of thankfulness and warmth, and groove to the immaculate sounds of Ebb King, DJ Pae Me & Mista Selecta. We've got some birthdays in the house as well, including SH co-founder Nick's 36th, so the energy shall be abundant!
Come thru hungry, as Dionne will be featuring the return of her famous Glass Noodle Bowls, starting at 5pm until supplies last. If you know you know and, if not, you might want to find out! And don't forget to bring a coat or some spare funds, as we'll be linking up with our partners at EOR Mutual Aid for a holiday coat drive to spread the love for our community even further! RSVP link in our bio!
East of the River Mutual Aid formed in March 2020 when the global pandemic reached our doors and quarantine restrictions shuttered much of the city. To keep one another safe, DC organizers used existing mutual aid work to quickly develop and build a network that would serve as a means of caring for neighbors' basic needs when access to food and cleaning supplies was scarce.
Since March 2020, East of the River Mutual Aid has made more than 18,000 deliveries of produce, groceries, cleaning supplies, diapers, and hygiene items to neighbors across Wards 7 and 8 with the support of more than 200 volunteers. Folks who need support are able to call our hotline and detail their needs -- no eligibility required and no strings. We believe in solidarity, not charity.
