About the Film:

YAABA, which translates to "Grandmother," is a poignant and beautifully crafted film from Burkina Faso. The story follows two children, Bila and Nopoko, who befriend an elderly woman named Sana, who is ostracized by their village. The children learn profound lessons about kindness, prejudice, and the enduring human spirit through their friendship with Sana.

Directed by the acclaimed Idrissa Ouédraogo, YAABA is celebrated for its touching narrative and insightful portrayal of African village life. The film received international acclaim and won the FIPRESCI Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
