Event Summary

Ujima Jam Sessions (https://www.ourspaceworld.org/ujimajams.html) are farmer-focused engagements that are virtual or in-person and focused on: sharing information (guest speakers), sharing resources, learning together, and helping each other out on our farms (think all-hands work days, with refreshments and/or on-farm demos from experts).

Launched in 2022 as peer learning circles to better meet the needs of Black and other underserved beginning farmers in Future Harvest's Beginning Farmer Training Program, Ujima Jams are now a farmer-led initiative supported by OurSpace.

Join us at Steptoe Farm for a day of learning and communal work! Steptoe Farm is a family owned, farm cooperative based in Brandywine, MD. Our farm provides fresh, affordable produce and ethically-raised animal products to working class families in DC and Southern MD. Our farm works with black-owned farmers markets and wholesalers, as well as church food pantries to distribute produce to the community.  We also offer educational workshops and volunteer opportunities for interested families and beginner growers to gain hands-on farm experience. At this jam we will be planting garlic and mulching with straw.

Bring your tribe, this is a family event!
