What is a SAR?

SARs (Sexual Attitude Reassessment) are process-oriented seminars that challenge attendees to evaluate their own internal beliefs, values, and attitudes towards sexuality topics. The American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT), further explains that “the goal of the 21st Century SAR is to develop within sexuality professionals a sexological worldview that is appropriately self-aware, informed and flexible enough to encourage practice excellence. The 21st Century SAR accomplishes this through the conscious use of transformational learning experiences, self-reflective process, small group experience, and courageous conversations” (AASECT, 2006).

SARs are for all humans that interact with humans. If you work with people in a therapeutic, healthcare, educational, social service, support, or adjacent environment, you need a SAR. Training in these professions do not often refelct the circumstances of the real world. Critically Conscious Professional Development provides education and actionable tools to impact the world we live in. Critical reflection allows participants to acknowledge, learn/unlearn, and move through social injustices, isms, and stigma that may impact their ability to do their work. The SAR is a unique space to be honest about our feelings, where they are held in our bodies, and how they show up for us.

This SAR is presented live virturally.
