A Conversation for Black Women - Building an Economic Action Plan - San Diego

California Black Women’s Collective Empowerment Institute, a 501C3 organization, is launching a tour throughout the state focused on empowering Black Women with information to improve their economic status. The Conversation for Black Women – Building an Economic Action Plan Tour, sponsored by the Bank of Montreal (BMO), will kick-off in San Diego on Saturday, July 29. This tour will be informative, resource-rich events that are designed to reset the conversation and to build the Economic Action Plan for Black Women in attendance.

The free, informative event will be at the Legacy International Center and is expecting 100-150 Black Women in attendance. A panel discussion of subject matter experts on economic equity on hand including Tunua Thrash-Ntuk, President and CEO, Center by Lendistry; Crystal Irving, President, SEIU 221 San Diego; Kimberley Goode, Chief Communications and Social Impact Officer, BMO; Tara Lynn Gray, Director, California Office of the Small Business Advocate; and Denise Pines, Co-Founder and CEO, Tea Botanics and Women in the Room Productions.

Community partners, BAPAC SD, Women of Color ROAR and Rapid Response Mortgage, will be on hand to provide information to attendees on local resources and activities. In addition, there will be a research fair with counselors will help assess wrap around service needs. Experts in policymaking, labor, economic development, and entrepreneurship will provide insights on the way to help Black Women build wealth and address economic and social disparity gaps through policy and practice transformation. In addition, attendees will connect with job coaches, recruiters, mentors, apprenticeship programs, homeownership counseling, financial planning, entrepreneurship support and more. Attendees will receive a copy of the book, The Black Girls Guide to Financial Freedom: Build Wealth, Retire Early, and Live the Life of Your Dreams along with other resources.
