Event Summary
Join AfroQinx and Ashé Cultural Arts Center in celebrating the freedom of sensuality, sexuality, and exploration in the Black community. Dance your cares away to your favorite House jams by DJ eyeV from Sound Theory Radio 102.3FM; become transfixed by the tantalizing and sensual movements of I.Ø. Moon; ignite desire for your deepest fantasies with erotic photography by COZMOBLACK.
The event features the screening of Thee Debauchery Ball* (Unreleased Director's Cut), followed by Q & A with founder/producer Khari B. and producer David Weathersby. Thee Debauchery Ball is an Afrofuturistic, Black, BDSM/kink/fetish-themed House music party; a celebration of sensuality, liberation, and consent that has continued since 2005, borne out of the sensual and electric nature of Chicago's House Musi culture. The documentary tells the personal story of founder, Khari B., the DJs, and the participants who look upon this event and the culture within as a bastion of freedom and an escape from preconceived notions. It is a study of the relationship between collective freedom and individual comfort, all from a Black cultural lens, that has helped to redefine Black music, community, art, and sexuality; all topics that are often maligned in the Black community.
