Join us to hear business pitches from HU student entrepreneurs competing for up to $10,000 in startup funding!
Considered the premier entrepreneurship pitch competition for Howard University students, HU Empower celebrates and nurtures Howard's most brilliant social engineers, innovators and creative thinkers. Since 2018, it has awarded over $150,000 in cash prizes and resources. Hosted by the Howard University Center for Digital Business.
HU Empower aims to increase Black generational wealth by providing the training and resources necessary for young Black entrepreneurs to launch a successful, scalable business suited for the digital economy. Sponsored by HubSpot, competition winners are awarded startup funding, technology resources and additional prizes.
All competing students take part in Marketing for Startups, a 3-credit course offered in the Howard University School of Business. Alongside lessons on marketing tools, feasibility and go to market strategy, the curriculum is supported by the guidance of experienced Black entrepreneurs, VCs, and investors who serve as guest speakers and mentors to provide further real-world application and context to students' learning.
