This year we are excited to give back to One Roof Chicago. Learn more about them below and on their official website. Visit them here.
Ten years ago Anna DeShawn, Founder/CEO of E3 Radio & Co-Founder of The Qube decided to celebrate her 30th birthday by starting an annual benefit to help support her favorite nonprofits. Over the years E3 Radio has given over $10,000 to various community based organizations in the Chicagoland area. These organizations include Affinity Community Services, the Church within a Church Movement, Project Fierce, the Youth Empowerment Performance Project, A Long Walk Home, The Chicago Black Gay Men's Caucus, Sisters in Cinema & Chicago Therapy Collective.
The Purple Tie Affair is special because we showcase musical artists, drag performers and one-of-a-kind silent auction items. The people arrive in their best purple representing their version of fly so we can party with a purpose. When you arrive at the Purple Tie be ready to purchase some amazing pieces of art, buy some raffle tickets, and enjoy great entertainment.
About One Roof Chicago
Chicago's LGBTQ+ community is facing pressing needs at both ends of the lifespan: a crisis in youth homelessness, accelerated aging among people living with HIV, and an acute lack of culturally competent support for seniors.
One Roof Chicago is an initiative to build a welcoming and inclusive intergenerational community for older adults and young people most in need of affirming housing, meaningful connection, and career development.
At the core of the project is the home, a place where LGBTQ+ older adults can age in safety, comfort and with the knowledge that they are accepted and celebrated. LGBTQ+ young people likewise will have the security of their own space with resources and mentorship available to make their goals a reality. One Roof Chicago will be an inclusive environment where LGBTQ+ residents can thrive, surrounded by valued community and supported by culturally competent service providers.
