As an extension of our Community Zine Archive: RCHVL, we are hosting a series of artist talks to spotlight each artist and facilitate conversations about their work and their contribution to our ever-growing community zine archive. Each artist talk event is programmed by the artist and a true reflection of their personal creative practices. We encourage everyone to engage fully in the conversations and activites and to support local, independant artist of color as they delve deeper into the creative industry.

Born in Trinidad & raised in the Virgin Islands. Iicky has built a practice bringing together the teachings of his father and being multicultural. The artist creates his works from a variety of used and non-traditional materials, motivated by his father encouraging him to “use what you have” and “there are no mistakes”.

Nneoma Ohale is a 23 year old storyteller who works primarily in poetry and photography. Her current artistic obsessions are gender, her Nigerian identity and desire, all three of which are featured in her zine GA NKE OMA (Or, Go Well). This zine is a collection of poetry and photography that reflects the person and artist Nneoma is in this moment. The deeply personal nature of the zine not only aims to reveal things about the artist but invites the reader to examine themselves and the world around them.
