Event Summary

Step Into Your Power Series to Self-Reflection for Self-Care, Healing with Meditation on God's Word, and Renewing and Restoring Your Mind.

The series will use reflective thinking and writing as tools for restoration. It is often used in education to empower students suffering from trauma and anxiety. This technique helps to begin the process of recognizing how past experiences are influencing present life. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of life to indulge in an hour of power reflection for self-care, healing, and renewal. These sessions offer a spiritual experience that combines the benefits of holistic conversation, meditation, and prayer to help participants find inner peace and balance.

Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Session 1
Topic:  Self-Reflection for Self-Care
Date:  November 26, 2023
Time: 12:30–2:00 pm CST
Location: Zoom Room

Deuteronomy 31:6 - Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Self-reflection is crucial because it can help you better manage your mental health and renew your mind. When you know yourself, you become more courageous as you embark on your journey with God and yourself. Being present with yourself and deliberately turning your attention inward to consider your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and motivations constitutes self-reflection. By actively reflecting on yourself, you can improve your grasp of who you are, your beliefs, and the reasons behind your thoughts and actions. The advantages and significance of self-reflection are discussed in this empowerment session, along with journaling exercises to help you put it into practice and apply it to your everyday life. We also discuss when self-analysis can become unhealthy and offer several coping mechanisms.

Session 2
Topic:  Healing with Meditation on God's Word
Date:  December 3, 2023
Time: 12:30–2:00 pm CST
Location:  Zoom Room

1 Peter 5:7
 - Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you,

Casing your care on God is the basis for this session, using meditation as a tool.
We often overestimate their ability and underestimate their inability. Yet the humble recognize that they are not God. God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and able to handle all our cares. As a humble person, you can cast all your cares on Him because you know He cares for you. To “cast” literally means to “throw.”  It is from the same Greek word used to describe how the people threw their coats on the colt before Jesus rode it into Jerusalem in Luke 19:35. We should not hold onto our cares. Instead, we should throw them to our Father God, who cares for us. He has big shoulders; he can handle our burdens. In this session, participants will explore meditation as a tool to cast their burns on God for healing and self-care. Psalms 19:14 - Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Session 3
Topic: Renewing and Restoring your Mind
Date: December 10, 2023
Time: 12:30–2:00 pm CST
Location:  Zoom Room

Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, acceptable, and perfect will of God."

We can't enforce world peace, but we can promote peace in our own minds and in our own lives. How is this done? The peace within us is often right in front of our faces. We can modify the situation, get rid of the upsetting stuff, and move our thoughts away from it.  In doing this, we give the upsetting stuff less power. As fallible humans, we often turn to our idols, including alcohol, drugs, overeating, depression, and other carnage. A personal hell is a never-ending circle, and we often create the never-ending hell ourselves through our choices. Christ's mental rejuvenation is separate from and unconnected to the situations that worry us; it's incomprehensible. This session will explore practical steps to renewing your mind biblically.
