Stroke kills about 140,000 Americans each year. Someone in the United States has a stroke every 40 seconds. Yet, only 25% of the population can name more than two of the six primary stroke symptoms.

You will leave this training with knowledge useful to save a life, including your own. A stroke can happen to any of us at any time - no matter your age.

This event is FREE. Catered dinner and refreshments will be provided. This event will fill up fast please arrive early to ensure you are able to get a seat.

The goal of our Stroke Awareness Campaign is to inform people about how to notice the signs of a stroke and act fast. Every second counts and early hospital arrival can be the difference between a little brain damage versus severe, permanent brain damage.

Get C.E.R.R.I.A.S About Stroke is led by Dr. Tonya Roberson, Founder of Helping Communities Help Themselves, and Dr. Knitasha Washington, Founder of ATW Health Solutions, and sponsored by the Illinois Department of Public Health and Governors State University.

"This is a partnership that started from a passion for a mission to develop an awareness and prevention program accomplished through education. Education is a significant social determinant that influences a person’s health over the course of a lifetime,”  said Dr. Roberson.
