The William H. Hale Fratern Luncheon brings the brothers of the Oklahoma District together with the community to honor and recognize the youth of the community and their outstanding commitment to academics, community service, and leadership. Bro. Parris Evans, while leading this fraternal luncheon, will present to you the Belford V. Lawson Oratorical Contest. Belford V. Lawson was an American attorney and civil rights activist who made at least eight appearances before the United States Supreme Court. He was the first African American man to win a case before the Supreme Court. He was also the sixteenth General President of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. The Belford V. Lawson Oratorical Contest allows our college brothers to demonstrate their oratorical skills in a competitive but educational format. Brothers from three universities (Oklahoma State University, Langston University, and the University of Central Oklahoma) will compete against each other, and the winner will go on to represent the Oklahoma District at the 78th Southwestern Regional Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana this coming Spring.
